A large diameter cylinder used for packaging bricks was malfunctioning, with bricks sticking to the machine.
Operators had to enter the machine to remove bricks by hand, posing significant health and safety risks as the air pressure could not be cut.
Business approach
The client asked for a valve to cut the air supply from the cylinder when the machine guard was open.
Rubix recommended a progressive start / safety drain valve by Norgren to provide immediate outflow and isolate the air supply to the cylinder.
Outcome / saving
The gentle start function of the drain valve allows the cylinder to complete the stroke in a safe and controlled manner when the air supply has been reconnected.
This reduced the risk of accidents and down time.
Saving €51,000
