How we helped our customer reduce costs through training. Our customer manufactures gas path components such as rotating blades for the aerospace and gas turbine industries. Their products were suffering from a high rate of bearing failure and they needed to know what was going wrong.
We know most bearing failures are due to poor fitting or maintenance, so we suggested more training, rather than more bearings. Together we set up a series of sessions for managers and engineers to educate them on installation and proper lubrication.
With our supply partner we also analysed the bearings that were in use and managed to diagnose issues caused by running different brands simultaneously in one machine. This insight has helped reduce downtime even further.
Small issue, big pay-off
