The belts for KUKA robots with pivoting arms were running in six bending cycles with simultaneous change of the running direction. Our customer required a reduction in the load on the bearings in order to achieve a significant overall improvement of the process reliability.
Rubix initially recorded the drive data and parameters, such as the running direction, bending cycles and distances between the axes.
In close cooperation with Optibelt, a new design was created and the pre-tensioning for the belt was redefined after consultation with our customer’s application engineering department.
Outcome / saving
The defined rates render an average reduction of the load on the bearings by 15 hertz. This is equivalent of a force of 150N per bearing.
